The Suburban Accessible Home
The accessible home project required me to design a family home for four that adhered to ADA guidelines, demonstrating how accessibility can be seamlessly integrated into a warm, inviting, and visually striking environment. The plans were created in AutoCAD, and the renderings were both hand-drawn and CAD photoshopped.
This home blends classic Georgian architecture with fresh color and modern livability. Traditional details like paneling, symmetry, and arches are balanced with layered textiles, playful patterns, and warm finishes to keep the spaces inviting rather than formal. Inspired by the family’s garden, love of cooking, and connection to the beach, the palette draws from natural greens, floral tones, and soft ocean hues. Generously scaled furnishings and thoughtful layouts support gathering, accessibility, and everyday comfort, while clean lines and natural finishes ground the design with texture and personality.
